Riding the waves

Our Schedule for Friday was very interesting and exciting. First we decided to do something that tourist usually do when in the new country. So we canalized to “National museum of Singapore” which was recommended to us by Mokałaj’s mom. At firs I thought that it will be another boring visit and I was really skeptic. Nevertheless the museum turned out to be one of the most interesting places I have ever been to. I could compare it only to “Museum of modern Arts” in New York but still this one was much better. There where three major exhibitions. Firstly we have visited the exhibition of Greek sculptures brought not so long ago from Louvre museum in Paris. We could also try to wear some toga’s. Afterward we went to see the major show about the history of Singapore from the very beginning of local society, thru the British rule of Sir Stamford Raffles, Japanese ascendancy during World War II, to the present time of great economic and architectural development. The whole exhibit was very interactive mainly thanks to the special electronic device which you can carry all the way. Several thematic paths and great amount of visual and audio presentations could take up hours. Unfortunately we have had an appointment and we had to resign from the last part of the museum. This is definitely the reason to go back to Singapore one day. I will take Ola with me this time!

Our appointment was crucial because it was the day of wakeboarding. After meeting Monika’s friend from Argentina we took a taxi to reach the lake specially designed for wakeboarding. Salty water, ski-look-like lift, some small waves, board and we. We (Me, Monika and Piotrek) means highly trained wake boarders with no fear to ride those waves at high speed. We started and spent another 20 minutes trying not to fall within first 5 seconds. Finally at the end all of us could make the whole round and even some turns. It was all a great fun for me and probably a lot of laugh for people (including our friends from Ireland and Germany who came later) staring at our miserable attempts to become professional boarders. I want to do it again. My another addiction after: skiing, sailing and being lazy from time to time.

At the end of our agenda for the day there was a most important activity. Pool party at Leonie Hill Road 14. Plenty of exchange students, barbeque, pool, some drinks and a lot of great fun before our departure to Indonesia on the next day.

Sentosa Island trip

On the second day (Wednesday) we went with Peter to Sentosa island. A recreational resort which is just next to city center and also the southernmost point of continental Asia.

All the facilities are new and state-of-the-art and therefore it all looks so much artificial. There are no natural beaches so they brought the sand from Indonesia to make it nice.

We were sexually abused by some girls from Philippines.

The place as a whole is beautiful but every time you look at the sea you can see hundreds of vessels waiting to enter the harbor.

We went to the “Underwater World”, a great aquarium and to “Dolphins Lagoon”.
Later on we met Monica and Asia after their classes at SMU (Singapore Management University) for a dinner. The University itself looks so modern that I really would like to study there.

Of course being in Singapore means partying so we started at the before party with other exchange students and then moved to “double O” club. The club was good, the drinks even better but the oncoming hangover was not a good thing at all.

The description of Indonesia trip is coming soon.

Oh. I know where is NEMO:)

Singapore: Not a "Sin City"

On Tuesday we woke up really early to reach Incheon Airport At 7:00 AM. We checked-in for the flight to Singapore and… I forgot to take my Korean language materials from Paris Baguette cafeteria. I have realized it just 10 minutes before boarding so I hope that I will find my stuff in Lost&Found next week. Oh and if anybody lost a Chrysler Crossfire on the fourth floor of Seoul Airport please give me a call. I think I ight know where it is.

When you look at the Incheon Terminal you can say only one sentence: Mają rozmach s…wysyny! It is so big and comfortable place and probably ten times bigger than Okęcie Airport.

After 6:40 hours of flight we have finally reached Chiangi Airport in Singapore. I even saw the new Airbus A380 next to the terminal. One of the first 2 delivered to any airline in the world. It is huge and “Jumbojet” Boeing 747 standing next to it looks so small and silly.

Monica reminded me not to bring drugs to Singapore because there is a death penalty for trafficking. Singapore has the biggest execution/population ratio in the world. We expected very hot weather as the city is only 180 kilometers north of equator. Hopefully the difference between Korea was not so big. 25 degrees Celsius is good for sightseeing and partying.

We have met Monica, Asia, Mikołaj and other exchange students in their spacious apartment at Leonie Hill Road 14. After a little while we started exploring the beautiful and very clean city.

The first impression is very different from Seoul. The architecture is enormous and everything is built in the strict order. Dozens of skyscrapers and some colonial looking buildings between them. All of them so new because local authority used to demolish buildings which are older than 20 years. That’s weird.

In the beginning we visited Clark Quay which is the first street with air-condition I have seen in my life. It is covered with some structure from above and you can feel pleasant wind all the way to riverside. Singapore downtown looks great in the evening. Thousands of lights and not very crowded streets. We had some dinner with local specialties but to be frank I prefer Korean food much more.

At the end we visited the famous "Merilion" which is a must for all the tourist. Of course everybody need to have at least one photo with the Lion. The girls look the best:)
